Maharashtra bans spitting in public places

In a wise move to ensure that public places remain clean and preventing the spread of contagious diseases like TB, Maharashtra has passed a bill to punish those who are caught spitting in public places. According to media reports, any person who will be caught spitting in public will have to pay a fine of Rs 1000 and also do some social service.
In India public places are often extremely dirty with many people, including highly educated people treating public places as one giant dustbin, dumping their waste on the roads, footpaths and elsewhere. Foreign countries like singapore are extremely clean because those who dirty public places are punished harshly. It is time people are forced to change their attitude.
