Lanluma can also be used to add volume to the face to compensate for age-related tissue and bone loss which causes lines and sagging.
The product works differently to other types of dermal fillers that are available by creating a deep tissue regeneration reaction. Most dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA) that simply add volume whereas Lanluma’s unique PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic-Acid) ingredient stimulates collagen synthesis which accelerates the bodies’ natural production of collagen, the protein that provides our skin with its natural structure and shape. This means, with Lanluma Manchester & Cheshire patients will be able to enjoy the effects of the treatment much longer than typical HA fillers which are broken down and metabolised by the body after a period of a few months.

The area will be sterilised and local anaesthetic will be applied. The injections will then begin and take no longer than 15 minutes normally. Once all of the Lanluma product has been administered, a strong massage will be carried out to disperse the products and avoid tiny bumps forming. Its is recommended that this massage is carried out twice daily for the following two weeks after treatment for optimum results.
The number of sessions required to achieve the desired result will vary from patient to patient however it can vary from between 1-3. Your doctor will be able to provide an indication at consultation.

Lanluma results should be apparent from approximately 2-4 weeks.
As the PLLA ingredient in Lanluma activates the body's own collagen production, the results can last much longer than dermal fillers. On average patients expect to see results last around 2 years.
Most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately after treatment of Lanluma although it is common to experience redness, tenderness, and swelling however this should reduce over the coming hours. Applying an ice pack and taking over the counter pain relief may help if required. A delayed rare side effect could include the formation of tiny bumps under the skin in the treated area. In the majority of cases, these bumps are not visible to the naked eye. This rare side effect can developed when the Lanluma product has been injected superficially in the dermis causing a lump of the product or collagen to form, a strong massage immediately after the treatment will prevents this type of lump formation.
Due to the volume of water in the suspension, patients will see an immediate filled result however that result will reduce over the next few days and the collagen growth will begin at 2-4 weeks. For optimum results it is advised that patients should massage the area for around 10 minutes twice a day for two weeks.
Lanluma is officially approved by MHRA in the UK and the FDA in the USA making it a safe and reliable product to use. As Lanluma is a natural product which is bio-compatible and therefore resolvable, it is readily tolerated by the human body and is safe to be injected without adverse side effects.
